Day 3 was a quick trip to the ranch to deliver my “wheels” to get around. Took a few photos, but nothing worth posting “yet”!! 😀
Day 4 was a little eventful at a very busy blind. The morning was overcast but very productive. It was overcast until about 9am, then it cleared up to be a beautiful morning. Had to work around a blind and install a “portable” water station that my brother helped me put together. I have ideas for stuff and my bro brings them to life. He is such a awesome carpenter. My new “ride” stopped about 5 times out in the field. Don’t know why, but hoping things get better. It’s suppose to be windy tomorrow, so not sure I’ll be going back out, but if the morning is good, I’ll be there!!
This was on taken 01/16/2017….I was looking around the ranch and re-familiarizing myself with it again, I arrived at the Orsak Pond and remembered when I was actually “baptized” in this pond in 2009, but I saved my camera. 😀 😀 (Almost went in with me!!! 😀 😀 That’s when it’s good to have an assistant with you to throw the camera at as he watches you fall in!!!!)
Day 1 of the 2017 Wildlife in Focus contest started today 01/15/17!! It was very eventful. No rain in the area when I started, but it found me for about 10 minutes, then it was a deluge. Literally!!! Even the birdies didn’t like it. ps: I don’t use a blind, but my camera was protected during the downpour. Had a Kestral and Vermillian Flycatcher that put up with the lesser showers for a while, but when the big rain hit, I thought I was being pelted with hail, yes, it was that hard. Gotta love it!! 🙂 Here’s a “miss” for you. That’s all you’ll see for the next 5 months, the ooopses. Oh, and the rain shower pelting the pond.
Spent a few hours at the ranch photographing Hummingbirds.Turned out to be a very special morning!!

Had the opportunity to spend a little time at Coleto Creek Park seeing and attempting to photograph the eagles. There are 5 nests with 4 active nesters throughout the park. The nest we visited was established this year. Didn’t get many photos, but we were able to see the chicks before they left. My best friend and I spent about 2 hours there enjoying the birds and the weather. Love South Texas in the Spring!!! Enjoy my friends and go by the park if you ever have a chance. Blessings to all, and thank you for viewing my work!! ♥ s
