04/12/11 Day 34
Well, I went out again at 4am in the morning just cause the skies were so clear and beautiful. I wanted to try another shot of the area I’m concentrating on. I wanted to get some exposures with my Canon 1D Mark II using my cable release. It made a big difference in the photo. I was even able to get a great shot with the Milky Way in the background.
I left out there at 5:30am and found my exposures where much better. I was very pleased with the outcome.
I went back out after 9am after my brother had checked out the truck. It was making funny noises. The PU is a 1985 Toyota, so it’s gonna make noises, but this was worse. The tie-rods need replacing, so that got ordered and the tires are rubbing on the fender, so that was the main noise I heard.
Anyways, I went back out and set up under the brush at the Quail Run, but nothing was happening. I played my iPod until it died. The Quail all came out, but north of where I wanted them to be. I may have messed up when I left the PU where they could see it. I was too lazy to move it off. Next time! I got a few photos of a Pyrrhuloxia, not great, but decent for sharing on Facebook and here.
Then I readied to leave and found tons of activity in the cactus bushes. The flowers didn’t pop up too much this year due to the drought, so the cactuses are putting out and they are busy. Got some great stuff on bugs and butterflies, but I’ll work them some more when I get the truck back. Can’t go back into this area with my car, too rough.
I checked the old hunting blind and found the Barn Owl had 4 more new babies. They were very young, about 1-2 days old. There are 4 more eggs that haven’t hatched yet. And 2 dead rats, ish! I’ll have to wait a couple of weeks to go back and check things out. The possibilities are endless.
Anyways, thanks for viewing. Enjoy God’s gifts folks….sylvia
